Coquena is a project in the northerly Salta area of Argentina, producing Malbec, Tannat and Torrontes. The area in the north can be brutally hot, but these vineyards sit at almost 6000 ft, making it a much cooler, but harsh area for grape growing. The vines are under constant strain from the conditions, which naturally reduces the yields. The resulting wines have super concentration and complexity from their environment.
Coquena is part of the Vine Connections portfolio of Argentine and Chilean wines, and Japanese sakes.
