Corte dei Papi is a Lazio producer in the Vias Imports portfolio. The principal wine for which they are known is the Colle Ticchio, a blend mostly of two unrelated red grapes with similar names: Cesanese Comune and Cesanese d’ Affile, and named after one of the hills of the property. The 25 hectare vineyard sits within the DOCG zone of Cesanese di Piglio.
The soil in the vineyard is mostly clay. Wines are fermented and aged in stainless steel. Cesanese vines have been planted here for centuries to make a fresh, medium-bodied red wine that goes perfectly with local cuisine, including the silky Spaghetti Carbonara and fiery Pasta Arrabbiata.
The family that owns this property also owns the Argillae property in Orvieto.
