Jim Barry was a pioneer of Australian table wine and began his venture in the cool Clare Valley section of South Australia in the late 70s. He and his family continued to acquire property and expanded their vineyards and production for many years to follow. In 1985, son Peter Barry took over the reigns of the company. An old soccer pitch in Coonawarra was acquired in the 90s as the soil was found to be perfect for growing Coonawarra Cabernet. The Armagh blend is considered one of the most sought-after, collectible wine from Australia.
Now in its third generation, the Barry family continues to lead Australia in the production of wines that outperform their price point. Jim Barry passed away in 2004, but his dream lives on through the efforts of his family.
Jim Barry Wines are part of the Negociants USA portfolio of Australian and New Zealand wines.
