The Martinelli family began growing grapes in the Sonoma Valley in the 1880’s.
The 1880’s. That isn’t a typo.
Guiseppe and Luisa planted their first grapes on a steep 60 degree slope (what would later become known as Jackass Hill Vineyard) before the automobile was introduced. The vineyards have been in the family ever since- Lee Sr. along with children George, Lee Jr, Julianna and Regina have carried on the tradition and produce some of the most highly regarded wines produced in California.
