Muscanti is a Spanish sparkling wine made by the Perelada Winery in northeast Spain. The grapes and the area are the same as producers of Cava: Macabeo (Viura), Xarel-lo (Pansablanca) and Perallada are the grapes in the cuvee, and the grapes are grown in Penedes. Yet the wine is made exactly like Italian Prosecco, in that the Charmat method is used (rather than the Champenois method) and some residual sugar remains in the bottle. This wine has been wildly popular since we introduced it into our markets in about 2008.
