Our relationship with David O’Reilly of Owen Roe (and Corvidae) began in about 2005 when the main property was located in the Willamette Valley, just outside Newberg, and David was in a business partnership with Jerry Owen. The winery was making wine from grapes in both Oregon and Washington, but it seemed like the heart of Owen Roe was in Oregon.
When David and Jerry decided to end their business relationship in about 2012, David acquired a beautiful property just outside Yakima, WA, near the area of Union Gap. There, he has built a modern winery for his Washington fruit, planted vineyards and moved into a beautiful home that overlooks his property and the valley beyond.
David has always impressed us with his ability to source among the best fruit available from farmers willing to sell, in both states. Some of the vineyards that appear on his labels are legendary, like Chapel Block from Red Willow or the Dubrul Vineyard. For a guy who works as hard as he does, he has a youthful optimism that is infectious, and we are thrilled to represent his wines.
Look for quality wines, sourced from the cool Willamette Valley and the warmer Columbia Valley, for years to come.
