Spain, Rias Baixas
Green Status: Sustainable
When RVWC began working with Importer Aviva Vino in 2008, one of the primary enticements was Aviva’s relationship with a group of Spanish wineries called Avanteselecta.
Viña Nora with its Albariño vineyards in the Rías Baixas and Pazos de Monterrey in Monterrei D.O. are two of the projects that Avanteselecta has developed in Galicia, while in D.O. Rueda, Bodegas Naia has consolidated itself in a short period of time as a bastion of quality Verdejos. In Castilla y León the group has developed Dominio de Atauta and Atalayas de Golbán (both in D.O. Ribera del Duero) wich are renowned for their centenarian vineyards that have survived the passage of time in the high altitude Atauta valley in Soria, while in the small D.O. Tierra del Vino de Zamora the winery Viñas del Cénit stands out of for its unique old vine single plot Tempranillo vineyards. Bodegas Obalo wich is located in the most coveted area of the Rioja D.O. creates wines with a singular classic yet avant-garde personality. In Castilla-La Mancha, Mano a Mano has paved its way as a winery with that is completely committed to quality and to a pioneering style of wines that had not been previously seen in this region. In Jerez, Alvaro Domecq completes Avanteselecta`s portfolio with its exceptional Sherry wine collection which is based on their passionate approach to traditional artisanal methods of sherry production.
